It all began in 1768. On the road from Liège to the Ardennes, a coaching inn opened its doors on the banks of the Amblève. Travellers would leave their horses in the stables behind the house while they regained their strength over a good meal. Eight generations later, the Daussaint-Bonhomme family carries on this tradition in what has become the oldest hotel-restaurant in Belgium — over 250 years of unbroken history.

Today, the eighth generation continues to write this story. The homarium still houses lobsters, trout and crayfish. Authentic porcelain and silver cutlery adorn the tables. And beneath the century-old elms of the terrace, the Amblève sings the same song as in 1768.

The Royal Hôtel Restaurant Bonhomme was founded in 1768 as a coaching inn on the road from Liège to the Ardennes, on the banks of the Amblève river in Remouchamps. Eight generations of the Daussaint-Bonhomme family have succeeded one another there, making it the oldest hotel-restaurant in Belgium — over 250 years of unbroken history. King Albert I, Mistinguett, Fernandel and Fangio have all stayed there.

Yes, the Royal Hôtel Restaurant Bonhomme is a member of the Logis Hotels network, a European label guaranteeing the quality of hospitality, the charm of the accommodation and the authenticity of the cuisine. The restaurant also earned a Michelin star in 1937, held until 1940 and regained after the war until 1958.
